2015 has been an amazing year and I’m sad to be seeing the end of it. I have excelled in all aspects of my life this year and I am excited to see what 2016 has in store. I thought I would share some of these memories with you so here is, in no particular order, some of my favourite moments from the year:
Riding and caring for elephants in Chiang Mai at Baan Chang Elephant Park. I’ll remember this day for the rest of my life as we got to feed, ride and wash elephants which had been mistreated in SE Asia and taken into this reserve.
Ziplining through a jungle in Phuket was a great day out and the views at the top of the canopy were beautiful.
The Full Moon Party was mental – imagine a mix between Ibiza and Magaluf with thousands of people on a beach.
Partying in Hanoi with our English and Canadian friends. The hostels here put on bar and club crawls for all of the backpackers/tourists in the city. This meant that we were able to meet like-minded people, go out without it just being Ashley and I and the bevy was so cheap (30p for two Tiger’s).
Finding the world’s most perfect beach in Railay. The beach is protected by limestone cliffs covered in trees which means that the water here is clear and calm with perfect white sand.
Caving in Dong Hoi when we got to explore beautiful limestone scenery in caves, zip-line, kayak, swim through a cave and take a mud bath inside.
I’m against guns, and I would never actually want to shoot or kill anything, but I have always wanted to experience what it is like shooting one. Fortunately ranges are widely available in Phuket and I got to give it a shot (pardon the pun).
I’d never went on a double date before but Ashley dragged me along to one in Ho Chi Minh with her friend April and boyfriend Jordan. Luckily we got on great and still meet up when we can!
In October I went to Amsterdam with my mate Lawrie. There’s so much to do in the city and the night life is bouncing with bars and clubs. I’m not big on drugs back home but over here it only felt right to take in the local culture…I’m hoping to go back with him next year before uni starts back in September.
I went to Dublin at the start of this month and had an amazing time with my mates Darren and Graham. The night life is beyond comparison…and so was my hangovers. Hopefully we can all go back next year too with the rest of the lads.
