It’s now been two years since my girlfriend and I started going out, so I decided to take her out to celebrate. If you’re looking into what to do for a special night in Glasgow then hopefully this will be perfect for you.
Ashley is the most indecisive person in the world when it comes to food, but if I decide then it won’t be what she wants. So what I did was give her 4 or 5 places that I’d want to go and let her pick from there – the decision was Café Andaluz. This tapas restaurant is located just off of Ashton Lane in the West End of Glasgow and I couldn’t recommend it more. We didn’t do it on this occasion, but if you book your table for before 6:30pm you will qualify for the Pre-Theatre menu deal, which includes three tapas dishes from main menu and dessert for £13.95. I’d highly recommend you try the Patatas Bravas, Patatas Gratinadas, Pollo Marinado, Carne de Res Picante, Bamba Picante and Albondigas. Have a look for yourself at the menu here. After dinner you can walk to Ashton Lane in a matter of minutes to enjoy some drinks in its many bars. From personal experience I’d recommend going to Vodka Wodka for some cocktails and pints. To make the night complete you will want to book a hotel. There are hundreds of choices in Glasgow but for me I’d always go for Hotel Du Vin’s One Devonshire Gardens in the West End. This has been the hotel of choice for celebrities in Glasgow over the years with big names such as Lewis Hamilton and Nicole Scherzinger. With a five star rating, heated flooring in bathrooms, free wifi, twin monsoon showers, very large rooms, free standing baths, king sized beds etc. you definitely won’t regret booking. You can view the room we had minus the en-suite because Instagram doesn’t allow long videos.
Make sure you pre-book the fry-up breakfast as it’s cheaper and you will not want to be missing out; this additionally comes with access to their Continental Breakfast. There would be a photo of the fry-up but hungry prevailed over pictures.
